Veggie Fun Platform Pop-up

Hola!

I have a fun 3D project to share using Lawn Fawn stamps and dies. I don’t have much time to craft lately, so I need to find products that make it easy to put a card together. I find that solid stamps are great for saving time because although I love coloring, it is very time-consuming for me.

LF_YBD_001

I chose the ‘Rooting for you’ stamp set for my project and stamped the images using several die ink colors. My idea was to lean towards a more pastel-ish color palette, but definitely, there are some veggies more bold than others.

LF_YBD_002

The ‘Platform pop-up’ dies have been in my stash for a long time, but I hadn’t used them -and you know I love interactive and 3D projects- so I thought it was the right time to use them. I die-cut the pieces from pattern paper from the ‘Flower market’ collection. I think the light green matches the veggies so well! I used a cloud border die for the soil and some pattern paper by Doodlebug.

LF_YBD_003

Lawn Fawn has an add-on die to make a background for the ‘Platform pop-up’ dies, but, as I don’t have it, I made my own using the same pattern paper to match the outside of the box. For the inside – the scene background- I wanted to use a very lightweight paper to favor the folding, so I used some origami paper from my stash. I love the hand-dye-like color and the wrinkled texture! I also added a banner to give the scene something extra.

LF_YBD_004

Mikel loves this box! He helped me with the shooting as well!

Finally, I stamped the sentiment on a white panel, adhered it to the front of the box, and also added an extra radish.

I had such a great time putting together this project! I’m going to make more of these less time-consuming projects because I love making cards and giving them to people.

I’m entering this project into Lawn Fawnatics Challenge #155: Create a 3-d card or project

Autumn Fox card

Hola!

Today I’m sharing an autumn-related project. I know it is spring, and we are looking forward to warmer weather and longer days… But it took me ages to finish this card, and I just want to share it, send it, and move to a new project. Frankly, I still struggle to find some “me” time to craft. Moreover, I love scene cards and coloring with colored pencils, but it is so time-consuming… I’m thinking about making tags instead of cards or using layering stamps and stencils to save some time, so we will see if that works best for me.

This card has been sitting on my desk since September. It was supposed to be a birthday card, but then the birthday date arrived, and I just had done the coloring, and then the time passed by, and suddenly easter was here, and I thought it was time to finish the card.

HB_Octobers2023a

The book in the background is a Spanish edition of Anne of Green Gables. I loved the series as a teen, and I treasure these books.

I stamped these cute images from Hello Bluebird on kraft cardstock and colored everything using colored pencils. I love how these turned out! It was so fun to color them! I also used the Oak Tree Scene die on kraft cardstock and Distress Oxides to blend some ink on the different pieces. Afterward, I splattered some watercolor on the grass and the tree-top piece. I wanted to add more dimension to the tree top, so I used the pond builder die to die-cut a piece of vellum and inked it too. I also stamped the sentiment here and heat-embossed it on white.

I’m so happy with this card! I made it for a cardmaker I admire, so I hope she likes it too, even though she gets it in spring 🙂

Thanks for stopping by! Have a lovely day!

Floral Card in Yellow and Purple

Hola!

Today I’m sharing a card I made using Altenew supplies. Recently I was chosen as one of the winners of their Inspiration Challenge, and I won a gift card to their shop. Guys, it was so hard to decide what to buy! I had like 50 products on my wishlist. Luckily, they always have a weekly sale, and I took advantage of it to purchase some of the products from my wishlist with a discount.

One of the stamp sets I purchased is this beautiful Sweet Flowers. I think these flowers are so pretty and so versatile. I stamped the image twice using a yellow and purple color combo. Then fussy cut the images and cut off one of the flowers on one of them. I used the Mega Brush Alpha stamp set to stamp the word you on a white panel and stamped a sentiment from the Sweet Flowers stamp set below. I arranged the images making an arc around the sentiment and glued them using foam tape. Then I glued the panel to a purple card base and added some gemstones in purple and yellow to add some interest.

Altenew_SwetFlowers2023a

I love how this card turned out. I struggled to find a composition for the flowers I liked, but I love how they wrap around the sentiment. And I think the Mega Brush Alphas is becoming one of my favorite stamp sets. It is perfect for personalization, and the script is so beautiful!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a fabulous day!

Floral Card for Numera

Hola!

I know it has been a hot minute since my last post (almost a year!), but sadly, I’m not making many cards these days. Well, life update: I began to work again after my maternity leave/unemployment, and I find it hard to find some time/motivation to make cards. But I still love seeing what other crafters share and enjoy watching YouTube tutorials.

Today I’m sharing a card I made for a friend who just defended her Ph.D. thesis. I wanted to make a card to congratulate her and tell her that I am going to miss her so much. She loves flowers, so I had to use these beautiful peonies from the ‘Peony Bouquet’ stamp set from Altenew. I love how easily you can get astonishing results with Altenew’s layering stamps! I don’t even have many ink pads, and I think these flowers turned out great.

AltenewNumi001

I arranged the flowers and glued them to a white cardstock panel I had previously embossed using a stencil. I saw this technique in this Yanna Smakula’s tutorial a long time ago, and I decided to give it a try. Honestly, I am amazed by the result, although is barely visible in the pictures.

AltenewNumi002

I love how the gold embossed images match the gold sentiment.

Finally, I mounted everything on a light pink panel and glued it to a card base. I added the word hooray, die cut from gold cardstock, and the sentiment, heat embossed on a light pink stripe of cardstock.

Although floral cards are not my jam, I am happy with how this design turned out. I hope you like it!

Llamazing Farewell Card

Hola!

Today I’m sharing a farewell card I made for a friend using the Heffy Doodle Llamazing Llamas stamp set. My friend Dani has moved to Barcelona, and I had to make a card for him. I’ve made some cards for him and his wife Carla, and I’m super happy because I know they cherish them 🙂 I chose these super cute llamas (or are they alpacas?) for his card because I think he would love them, and I wanted to color them, but I hadn’t had the chance.

HD-Llamas01

I decided to stamp the images using sepia ink and color them with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers and colored pencils. I colored the llamas in different ways, trying to make them fluffy, and I think my best result was the brown one. I’m so happy with how that one turned out I can’t believe I colored it myself!

HD-Llamas02

For the background, I used the Heffy Doodle Arizona stencil. I love how easily you can get a fantastic scene with this one! As I was going to use the Mama Elephant Comic Cover Wonky die, I inked the panel to have a different background on each row.

HD-Llamas03

I stamped two sentiments, one on the first strip and the other on the last one. I think this way the card has a story feel. Then, I used foam tape to adhere the cover die-cut to the background and glued the images using liquid glue and foam squares.

Making this card has been bitter-sweet because I loved making it, and I’ve put lots of love, but it is always very hard to say farewell to a good friend. I hope he loves it!

CAS Card with Dinosaurs for Telmo

Hola!

Today I’m sharing a couple of CAS cards I made using Mama Elephant and Heffy Doodle products.

ME-Dinos00

My nephew’s birthday is in December, but, at that time, I was a little bit busy, and I could not make him any birthday card. It really was bothering me because I think I’ve made him cards and birthday invites every year since I started cardmaking. I even had bought Mama Elephant Little Dino Agenda stamps because I knew those were perfect for him!

ME-Dinos01

So one night, I decided to color the dinos just for fun, trying something different, so I used watercolors to give them a base layer of color. Once they were dry, I used colored pencils to add more depth and detail. Last, I used some gelly roll pens to add even more accents. I fussy cut all the images and then started to think about what I should make with them.

ME-Dinos03

I had purchased the Heffy Doodle Messy Desk stencil, and I could not wait to use it. So I inked one of the splatters three times in three different colors on a piece of Bristol paper. I adhered this panel to a piece of kraft cardstock and then mounted it on a card base. I stamped a sentiment from Mama Elephant Lion Dance stamp set, and last, I used foam squares to glue the dinosaurs on top of the splatters. As I had many images, I made two cards. Also, I used the rest of the dinos to decorate some bookmarks made using Avery Elle dies on some Lawn Fawn patterned paper. I thought Telmo would love using these on his books.

ME-Dinos02

These sort of CAS cards are not my jam, and although I keep thinking I maybe should have added some embellishment, I’m quite happy with how they turned out.

I hope you like them!

Milestone Cards for my Baby III

Hola!

So long since my last post! We’ve been very busy at home: we remodel our kitchen and bathroom, and the past two months have been too hectic. Furthermore, Mikel has turned one in the middle of the redo works (btw, my hubby has also blown candles those days), and it’s been a challenge to make something special for him.

Anyways, today I’m sharing the last batch of milestone cards I made for Mikel. I can’t believe how beautiful my boy is! He is growing up so fast, and I feel so lucky to be with him every day to see all the changes.

POD-MilestoneCards019

These stamps are perfect for summer. I love that the colors I used in the card match the shorts my SIL tailored for Mikel.

As you already know if you’ve read my previous posts (here and here), before starting this project, I selected the images for each card to be consistent with the month/season it was for. Today I’m showing you the 9-month to one-year-old cards, corresponding to July to October months. I’m using mainly Purple Onion Designs stamps designed by Stacey Yacula, with some other ones to help set the scenes.

IMG_20210820_192118_FK

In this card, I stamped the background in clear blue ink because I wanted the water lines to be subtle. Then, I traced the rest of the image with a calibrated pen.

The cards are in Basque, so hilabete means month, and urte means year. If you are interested in the supplies I used to stamp the words and the numbers, you can check this post. The images are colored using Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers, and I used Distress Inks to color the backgrounds. Also, I used a white gel pen and a Sakura Stardust glitter pen to add some details.

POD-MilestoneCards0111

In this card, I masked the owl to remove the scarf he wears in the stamp.

Making simple scenes has been very difficult, and I feel I’ve added more and more as I made the cards, but it’s ok because I love how they turned out.

POD-MilestoneCards0112

I knew I wanted to use this cute mouse holding the prize ribbon for the one-year card.

And that’s a wrap! I have a bitter-sweet feeling about this project. I love how it turned out, I loved taking all those pictures to see how Mikel has changed in his first year, and I’ve enjoyed sharing these with my family and friends. I also feel relieved. After all, sometimes it has been a little bit stressful finishing them on time to take the picture because it was hard to find time and/or inspiration to make them. But, on the other hand, I feel so sad because I can feel how the sand of the hourglass is running through my fingers, and I just want to freeze time and enjoy this stage a little bit longer. I guess all the moms and dads feel the same.

Well, I hope you like these cards!!

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Birthday Kitties Slimline Card

Hola!

Today I’m sharing a slimline card I made featuring Waffle Flower’s ‘Birthday Kitties’ stencil. I love this stencil. As soon as I saw this product, I knew I wanted to play with it. I love inking, and this kind of stencil is great to achieve the look of no-line coloring, which is a technique that scares me a lot!

WF-BKitties2021a

My first attempt was to make a wreath of kitties using this cat image, but I realized that I don’t have such a large circle die to fit my wreath, and it was too big for a square-shaped card. So I made a pattern on an 8” by 8” piece of kraft cardstock using white pigment ink as a base layer and then ink blending Distress Inks on top of that. I used some Distress Oxide Inks, but mainly for the gifts and the party hats because I don’t have many colors. Then I shaded the images using Prismacolor Premier color pencils. I love how it looks! I think that with a little bit of shading the kitties look so much better. I added some Nuvo Drops to the party hats as well.

WF-BKitties2021b

I know it looks so much better if the pattern continues beyond the card front panel but I was so happy with the coloring of the kitties that I didn’t want to cut them. So I used some scalloped border dies on the panel to trim it to an 8” by 3” piece, and foam mounted that on an 8” by 3.5” card base I made using Simon Says Stamp’s ‘Dark Chocolate’ cardstock. To choose the color of the card base, I was inspired by Rina. I always love the color combos she uses, so I checked out her Instagram feed, and I was inspired by this card.

WF-BKitties2021c

For the sentiments, I used some Lawn Fawn stamps. I heat embossed them on white on the same dark brown cardstock. Then I used foam squares to adhere the sentiment strips on the front panel. I also stamped and heat embossed a sentiment on the inside of the card that reads: ‘Translation: wishing you a pawsome day’.

I had so much fun making this card! I am in love with this stencil and I love how easily you can color the images ink-blending them and then adding detail with any other coloring media.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!

Otterly Adorable Pop-Up Card

Hola!

Today I’m sharing a pop-up card featuring Mama Elephant’s ‘Otterly Adorable’ stamp set. It took me ages to finish this card, and in the end, I don’t know if I’m happy with how it turned out or if it is meh. Although I had very clear in my mind how I wanted to look, I wasn’t sure about how to make it work… I did a lot of research on V-folds to find a way to make the card work for me.

ME-Otters00

So let’s start with the front: I wanted to have a very simple and no dimensional scene, but at the same time anticipate what you are going to find on the inside. I used three different scene/border dies on a rectangular piece of cardstock. Then, I inked each piece and inlaid them inside the stitched frame die-cut from patterned paper. I slipt the otter on the wavy slit and added the butterflies. The sentiment is stamped using Versafine Onyx Black ink.

ME-Otters01

Now let’s take a look at the inside of the card. When you open it you find a scene with a bunch of otters having fun. I used three V-folds to create the impression of depth: on the back, I used a mountain border die; on the middle, I used a cloudy border die to make some bushes; and on the front, a wave border die. The middle and the back V-folds point towards the viewer because I think thus it looks like those planes are far away from us. On the contrary, the front V-fold points away from the viewer, which gives the impression of a nearby scene. Also, I added an extra piece to the left side of the middle V-fold to fill some of the space.

ME-Otters03

I also wanted to floor those V-folds, so I inked the card base and decorated it with some die-cut images. I think this adds a lot to the scene.

ME-Otters04

So, as I mentioned, I did some research on V-folds because I wasn’t sure about how to translate what was on my mind into paper. I have two fantastic books by Duncan Birmingham: Pup-Up! A Manual of Paper Mechanisms and Pop-Up design and paper mechanics. These have helped me a lot to find what suited my project. He has a great YouTube channel with lots of tutorials as well, which I recommend you to check out. And lately, I’ve been watching lots and lots of videos by Matthew Reinhart. He is an incredibly talented paper engineer (his books are astonishing), and his YouTube channel is fantastic. There you can find masterclasses and a lot of fun projects (many with downloadable templates) to make with your kids or honestly to make on your own because it’s a lot of fun, plus you learn a lot!

ME-Otters05

Here is a short clip of the pop-up card:

I also wanted to share with you that I am not making as many projects as I wanted. I am a super slow crafter: it takes me long to color, and I tend to overthink every single step on my cards. I think that making scene/interactive cards does not help with that! Plus, it is so difficult for me to find the time to craft. Currently, I’m kinda staying home mom, and the baby and the housekeeping make me exhausted. Many days, when the baby falls asleep in the evening, I just don’t feel like crafting. This frustrates me a lot because I have so many cool ideas for cards and projects… So if you’re a staying home mom/dad, please, tell me how you balance your duties with your hobbies. I’m looking for some advice!!

A pop-up box card for a new baby

Hola!

Yesterday I launched this new website, and today I’m sharing a cute pop-up box card featuring one of my all-time Lawn Fawn’s favorite, “Baaah Humbug” stamp set. I have a thing for sheep, and this one is adorable! Also, this sheep was the star of the first card I shared on my blog, so I thought it would be nice to be the star of the first card I’m sharing in my new blog too.

LF-LittleBundle2021a

This type of card is super fun to make, and making one for an expecting family makes me so happy. To make the pop-up box, I used some Lawn Fawn patterned paper from the Perfectly Plaid Chill collection. I used a green and yellow color palette because I wanted something gender-neutral.

LF-LittleBundle2021b

I used Lawn Fawn’s “Little Bundle” stamp set, which was gifted to me by a crafty friend and I think is so sweet (and so true! I didn’t know that a baby can increase the laundry so much!). All the images are colored with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers, and I used Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils to add some details.

LF-LittleBundle2021c

I used a 1/16” hand punch to make a little hole on each of the poles and threaded a very thin burlap twine to make the clothesline. Actually, the die-cut clothes are glued to the grassy border to avoid the clothesline bending because of the weight of these pieces.

LF-LittleBundle2021d

I decorated the background panel with some cloud frames, as well as the side panels. I also added some tulips to complete the scene. To stamp the sentiment, I used Lawn Fawn’s Mermaid ink and Versafine Vintage Sepia ink.

LF-LittleBundle2021e

I used some burlap ribbon and a scalloped circle die-cut on which I stamped the sentiment to decorate the outside of the box. When the pop-up box is open, this ribbon can be put around the bottom of the box.

I love how this turned out! I hope the recipients use this pop-up box as a decoration for the nursery.

Welcome to inkandpawprints.com

Hola!

Today I’m launching this new website and bidding farewell to my WordPress blog. Yay! My brother encouraged me to have my own website, and he has helped me A LOT! Actually, he is the webmaster. This new website will be bilingual, so both Spanish and English-speaking followers can read my posts.

I have a new logo as well! I think this cat paw holding her own pawprint stamp represents really well the idea behind the name of my web in a very funny way. By the way, if you’re curious, you can find why I named my blog Ink & Paw Prints here 😉

Today also is my 5th anniversary as a cardmaking blogger!! You can read my first (which is kind of a presentation) here, but I thought this is the right post to share some not-crafting-related facts about me. So let’s go!

  1. My name is Beatriz, I’m 37 years old, and I live in Donostia (Spain) with my husband Aitor, our baby Mikel and our two cats Sakura and Grumpy.
  2. I’m a physicist, and I have a Ph.D. in liquid crystals, which is the cool material you can find inside lots of displays, from old calculators’ or digital swatches’ to today’s smartphones’.
  3. Besides crafting, my other hobbies are reading and video games. I love a good SciFi or fantasy novel, but I read almost everything I can get my hands on. Some of my fav books are The Princess Bride by William Goldman and Kim by Rudyard Kipling. Concerning video games, I’m a sucker for point-and-click adventure games (isn’t Monkey Island the best video game ever??) but enjoy RPGs and arcade games as well.
  4. I love to travel. For the last ten years, I’ve traveled to many countries, and I can wait for this pandemic to end to travel to many more.
  5. I really really love Japanese culture. I admire Japanese people so much! I love how they pay close attention to details and make the most quotidian thing very beautiful and precious.
  6. I enjoy watching live music, and it was something we used to do very often before the pandemic.
  7. I love a good cup of filtered coffee. My other ‘bad habits’ are craft beer and bean-to-bar chocolate.
  8. I’m a very shy and introverted person. I avoid crowded places, and I don’t like to be in the spotlight.
  9. I’m an animal lover. I’ve always wanted to have a cat, and finally, when I was 30, we adopted Luci. Sadly she left very soon. Shortly after, Sakura and Grumpy arrived at our lives, and we don’t know what it’s like to get a good night’s sleep anymore.
  10. I’m a morning person. I prefer to wake up early to get everything done as soon and possible and enjoy me-time in the evening. Also, I love to sleep, and I can fall asleep almost everywhere.

Milestone Cards for my Baby II

Hola!

Today I’m sharing another batch of milestone cards I made for my baby. Mikel is 8 months old now. My, how time flies! I’m so happy to watch him grow up but so sad at the same time because he is not going to be a little baby anymore :'( I’m so happy I decided to make his milestone cards myself and take pictures to check how much he has grown. Every time I see the first milestone picture, I think: “Did I ever had such a small baby in my arms?”.

POD-MilestoneCards015

This little sheep is one of my favorite stamps. He is so cute with his bow tie!

As I told you in this previous post, initially, I planned which images I wanted for each card, taking into account which month/season it is for. Today I’m showing you the 5 to 8 months old cards, corresponding to March to June months. If you read my blog post where I showed the first batch of cards, you already know I’m using mainly Purple Onion Designs stamps designed by Stacey Yacula with some other stamps to help to set the scenes.

POD-MilestoneCards016

I love how well the big flowers coordinate with the one the bunny is holding.

The cards are in Basque, so hilabete means month.

POD-MilestoneCards017

In this card, I added a subtle cloudy background with a stencil, barely visible in the picture.

I tried to make rather simple scenes. If you follow my work, you know I love a good scene card with tons of elements, so making these clean scenes in such muted colors is quite difficult for me.

POD-MilestoneCards018

Notice I used the same background stamp as in the 5-months-old card, but with some selective masking, it looks totally different.

I’m still finishing the 12-month set, so probably I’ll share the last four cards after Mikel’s first birthday (please, can we stop time? I want him to be a little baby forever). I hope you like these cards!!

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Gym Rats card

Hola!

Yay! I made a card! 🙂 It has been a while since my last card. As I mentioned in a previous post, I haven’t much time to craft, and I’m making the milestone cards for my baby, so that is mostly my only crafting. But I wanted to make a card for the physiotherapist who has helped me with the childbirth classes and later with the hypopressive exercises. Now, after a lot of encouragement, I’m working out with her help.

WF-GymRat2021a

I thought this Waffle Flower “Gym Rat” stamp set was perfect for making a card for her. I knew I wanted a tiled backdrop to simulate the Zoom screen since the classes are online. To make that backdrop, I used several Lawn Fawn dies.

WF-GymRat2021b

The mice were colored using Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers. I find difficult choosing the color schemes in these type of cards (basically, any non-scene card), but I like the one I used in this card.

WF-GymRat2021c

I love making my own backgrounds using stamps, and this set has very cool small stamps, perfect for that.

I hope you like this card! Thank you very much for stopping by! Have a great day!

Milestone Cards for my Baby I

Hi!

It’s been so long since I posted something! Long story short: I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy back in October, and he keeps me very busy but really happy 🙂 It’s crazy how precious are all these moments and how fast everything is going. So, summarizing, I have so little crafting time!

POD-MilestoneCards000

This is the first card. It says “Hi, I’m Mikel” and displays some birth-related data.

When I was pregnant, I started to make milestone cards for Mikel, but for whatever reason, (I guess because of the pandemic…) I was not feeling crafty during pregnancy, and I only finished two or three. So, now the time I have for crafting is dedicated to these milestone cards.

POD-MilestoneCards001

This, the first-week card, is my less favorite one. Initially, I did not consider ink blending, and I’m not very happy with the grass.

For the cards, I’ve used Fabriano Artistico hot pressed watercolor paper. The cards are in Basque, and I stamped the words week and month (aste and hilabete) on black using Concord and 9th “Perfectly Penned” stamp set. The rest of the words are stamped using Lawn Fawn “Harold’s ABCs” stamps.

POD-MilestoneCards002

I think the ink blended background looks much better, especially in that muted green.

I used a light green/pink color scheme for the cards. I made a stencil to ink blend a solid circle and then used Neat and Tangled “Journaling Alphas” dies to make stencils for the numbers, and ink blended them on black. I wish I have a stamp set with big numbers!

POD-MilestoneCards003

At this point, I changed the lighting, and the pictures look much better!

Initially, I planned which images I wanted for each card, taking into account which month/season it is for (that saves me lots of time). I was going to deliver in early November, but Mikel was born in late October. So, there are some inconsistencies in the first cards, like animals with presents in the one corresponding to November. Also, I wanted the cards to be simple, but I love scene cards, and I find it difficult not to add tons of things to the scenes. I’m very happy with the results, although I know that the full set of cards is not going to be very consistent.

POD-MilestoneCards004

These critters are the cutest, aren’t they? When there is snow on the cards, I spray some Perfect Pearls mixed with water over the area.

Last, I knew I was going to use stamps designed by Stacey Yacula for Purple Onion Designs. I love her style, and I think her stamps are perfect for projects for babies. I also used other stamps to complete the scenes, so you can ask me if you want to know from which set is one specific stamp I’ve used or any other supply.

POD-MilestoneCards008

Here I tried something different: ink blending the negative space. I think the result is quite cool.

The images are colored using Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers because I feel really comfy coloring with them. Plus, they are really easy to blend. It was the first time I’ve used them on this watercolor cardstock, and I love the results. Also, I used a white gel pen and a Sakura Stardust glitter pen to add some details.

POD-MilestoneCards012

In this card, I used a soft pink for the snow, but I think it’s barely visible in the photo.

I love seeing all these pictures together… It’s crazy how fast this boy grows up!

POD-MilestoneCards016

This is Mikel today! I love seeing all the pics together.

This time I’m sharing only the first four months’ cards since, as I’ve said, I’m still completing the 12-month set. I hope you like them!! Please, leave me a comment and tell me what do you think about these milestone cards. Have you done something similar for your kids or for the family/ friends’ ones?

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Like a tea-tray in the sky pull-tab card

Hola!

I hope you are doing well! If you follow me, you might notice this year I haven’t share many cards, and I frequently say I had a lack of inspiration. Well, the thing is I’m pregnant! And, although I’m super happy and I’m doing great, I feel a little bit tired and sometimes overwhelmed by this COVID situation. And to be honest, I don’t feel like crafting as much as I used to.

But today I have a pull-tab card to share with you. I recently got Mama Elephant “Tea Time” dies, which was in my wishlist for so long. I took inspiration from Alice in Wonderland and made an interactive card in which the dormouse peeks out from the teapot when you pull the tab. How fun is that?

ME-Dormouse2020a

This is an A7 card because I needed it to be big enough to fit the pull-tab mechanism and the sentiment. I used watercolor paper for the background, blending Blueprint Sketch, and Chipped Sapphire Distress inks. I splattered some water and added some flicks of silver watercolor paint. I needed a custom made sentiment, so I used Mama Elephant “Sketchy Letters” stamp set to spell it, and heat embossed it on white.

ME-Dormouse2020b

The teapot was inked using Squeezed Lemonade and Mustard Seed Distress inks. Then, I decorated it stamping some images from Mama Elephant “Brushed Florals” stamp set. I didn’t want the image to have a bold black border, so I stamped it using Memento Peanut Brittle ink and colored it with alcohol markers, adding some accents with color pencils.

ME-Dormouse2020c

For the pull-tab mechanism, I used Waffle Flower “Pull-tabs” dies. I used foam squares to adhere the background to the card base and the teapot to the background. Finally, I added some embellishments from Little Things from Lucy’s Cards.

Here you can watch a short clip of the cute dormouse peeking out from the teapot:

I love everything related to Alice in Wonderland, so if you are a fan too, I hope you like this card!

A set of 4-bar wiper cards

Hi!

I continue sharing wiper cards. This time I have a set of four 4-bar cards featuring Mama Elephant “Whale Wishes” stamps set. This maybe is my first Mama Elephant stamp set. Some years ago, there were not many Spanish retailers selling Mama Elephant products, so, for me, they were hard to find. In 2016 I went on vacation to Korea, and I found a little shop selling Mama Elephant products, and I couldn’t help to get these whales.

ME-WiperOrcas2020a

I made a very simple front panel since I wanted the surprise on the inside of the card to be the star of the show. I blended some Distress Inks on purple and pink tones on a piece of Bristol paper and sprayed a mixture of water with perfect pearls. This gives a very beautiful pearlescent look to the background. I used a scalloped die to make a window on a white cardstock panel, and, to make the sea, I embossed the wave image on white on a previously inked piece of cardstock. I love this wave image, it’s so elegant!! Last, I added the jumping orca.

ME-WiperOrcas2020d

This card design is more simple than the one I used on my other wiper cards since the only have a single wiper element―the whale which peeks from the wavy border. I added two more whales and a pair of clouds to balance the scene.

ME-WiperOrcas2020e

I’m very happy to tell you that I have made a tutorial on the assembly of the wiper mechanism! It took me ages because I had to find the proper setup to film the process, and then, as it was my first time, I record the same process for three of the four cards. I had to learn how to edit the video. Luckily, my husband helped me A LOT during the process.

I hope you enjoy the video!

Although these cards are quite simple, I think they are the perfect gift for someone because the sentiments in this stamp set are perfect for any occasion. I hope you like this project!

Thank you very much for stopping by!

Autumn-themed wiper card

Hi!

Today I’m sharing another wiper card. Sometimes when I think on an interactive card design I realize that I have many stamp sets that will work well to make an interactive scene. That was the case with my Go Bananas wiper card, so now, although I know I should be making summery cards, I’ve made a new wiper card with a fall scene.

HB-WiperFall02020a

For this card, I used Hello Bluebird stamps and dies. For the front panel, I stamped the “Blowing Leaves” background stamp on kraft cardstock using brown ink and colored the leaves using color pencils. I added some Nuvo Crystal Drops on some of the dots. I loved so much the pattern that I did not want to cover it too much, so I heat embossed the sentiment on white on a tag die cut from vellum. I added the pair of acorns image (also to have a place to put some glue) and used a string of burlap twine to tie the tag to the panel.

HB-WiperFall2020b

For the inside, I used the images from the “Oh Nuts!” stamp set. I love those squirrels!! I tried to color them using light colors since I tend to use very bold colors. As I wanted squirrels peeking from the upper and the lower side of the card, I had to create two borders. For the lower one, I used a simple hillside, while for the upper one I knew I wanted some treetops in different fall colors.

HB-WiperFall2020c

I used Distress Inks to blend all the die-cut pieces and splattered some water and ink on the same colors. On the treetops, I also splattered some drops of Nuvo mousse on Indian gold color mixed with water.

HB-WiperFall2020d

Here you have a short clip of the card:

I think this card turned out very well. I love the colors and the scene! I’m addicted to this mechanism, and I have plans of making at least one more card using it.

Cruising by slider card

Hola!

Today I’m sharing a slider card featuring Sunny Studio “Cruising Critters” stamp set.

CumpleMarc2020a

I colored the images using watercolor markers. I love coloring images that are quite big, like this car full of cute animals.

CumpleMarc2020b

I knew I wanted to make a slider card because it is perfect for this stamp set. When you pull the tab, the car moves in the opposite direction. Isn’t that cool?

CumpleMarc2020c

Part of the sentiment is hidden behind the car, and it is visible when you use the mechanism. I used Lawn Fawn “Let’s Bokeh” stamp set, partially stamping the word shine.

Here you have a short video of the card to watch how the mechanism works.

Thank you very much for stopping by! Have a great day!

Let’s cozy up card

Hi!

As I told you in my last post, I haven’t felt like crafting for a while. Luckily, some months ago I received a letter from a crafty friend with some pre-stamped images, which I find perfect just to color and relax.

Cozy2020a

I colored the scene using color pencils. I always say that I think Stacey Yacula characters are the sweetest. I love the bear just relaxing with his mug. I bet he is enjoying a good hot chocolate.

Cozy2020b

I added Glossy Accents to the glasses and to the nose, as well as some white pen detail. Last, I glued the panel to a white card base because I love the white/craft contrast.

I want to thank Laura for the images and send her a big hug. Thank you very much!!

Thank you very much for stopping by! Have a great day!

Go Bananas wiper card

Hi!

First, I hope you are doing well in these difficult times. It’s been a while since I posted a card but, lately, I’ve been lacking inspiration, and honestly, I didn’t feel like crafting. But now I feel great again, and I’m back to crafting and sharing my projects!

Bananas2020a

Recently I’ve been reading some books and watching videos on pop-up books and paper engineering, and I wanted to use some of the mechanisms on my cards. The one I used on this card is well known, and there are several companies offering dies to make wiper cards, but generally, they are not used on the inside of the card. So I had this idea, and I decided to use some Hello Sweetums products to make this card.

Bananas2020b

I love the images on this stamp set. The monkeys are so cute, and the stamp set includes some great accessories to use with them. The outside of my card is quite simple: I used some yellow dotted pattern paper, die-cut a circular window, and framed it with some leaves. I love the monkey peeking through the window! The first part of the sentiment is white embossed on a strip of black cardstock.

Bananas2020c

For this kind of card, you need some border to hide the moving parts. In this case, I wanted the monkeys to peek from the upper and the lower part, so I made a leafy border using Twisted Citron Distress ink and a stencil, and a bushy border using a die and inking the piece with Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn. In the latter, I splattered some ink with a paintbrush to add more interest and glued the rest of the sentiment for which I had die-cut the letters and inked them in a yellow gradient.

Bananas2020d

Here you have a short video of the card to watch how the mechanism works:

I love how this card turned out! It was quite hard to make because I had no intuition with this mechanism, but I will use it on more cards to learn how to use it better. I hope you like it too!

Thank you very much for stopping by! Take care!

Telmo’s Birthday card

Hola!

I realized I didn’t share the birthday card I made for my nephew Telmo. His birthday was back in December, and I used Mama Elephant “The Wild Roar” stamp set for his card.

Me-CumpleTelmo01

All these critters are so fun to color! This is my first Mama Elephant crowdy stamp set, and I love it! Plus, it’s perfect for color practice.

Me-CumpleTelmo03

To add the sentiment, I stamped the banner in the “Swinging Borders” stamp set from Mama Elephant. It turned out that my custom sentiment fitted there perfectly! By the way, Zorionak is what we say in Basque to wish someone a happy birthday.

Me-CumpleTelmo02

To finish the card, I added some white pen detail to the animals and a scatter of Itty Bitty Stars from Little Things From Lucy’s Cards.

Now, tell me: which is your favorite animal on this card??
