Hi!

Today I’m sharing a couple of birthday cards I made for my hubby and my nephew, whose birthdays were back in November and December, respectively. I decided to make them pop-up boxes.

First, let’s take a look to the card I made for my husband. I used Avery Elle “Band Camp” stamp set which is super cool and my first Avery Elle stamp set.

For making the pop-up box I followed an amazing tutorial by Laura Bassen, and it was really easy to make! I used Lawn Fawn pattern paper from “Let’s polka in the dark” collection and run the pieces through my die cutting machine using Lawn Fawn “Valentine borders” dies to make the scalloped edge. I inked some Bristol paper with Cracked Pistachio Distress ink, trimmed it down to the size of the pop-up box flaps and used the same border die. Next, I stamped Lawn Fawn “Flirty frames” and the sentiments from the Avery Elle stamp set on these pieces with Versafine onyx black ink and heat embossed it using clear embossing powder. Then, I glued these pieces to the flaps of the pop-up box.

For decorating the inside of the pop-up box, I trimmed down to the size of the background piece some blue cardstock and glued it. Then, I used Mama Elephant “Home Collection” dies on white cardstock and colored the pieces with alcohol markers. I glued the houses and the trees to the background to give some interest. For the grass, I used Lawn Fawn “Grassy border” die on green cardstock and adhered the pieces to the inside of the pop-up box.

Next, I stamped all the images from Avery Elle “Band Camp” stamp set on Bristol paper using Versafine onyx black ink and colored them with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers. I used the coordinating dies to cut the images.  Next, I added these super cute critters to the pop-up box. I used a strip of acetate to glue the parrot so it looks he is flying.

For my nephew’s pop-up box I used Neat and Tangled “Prehistoric” stamp set, because I made his birthday party invitations using that same stamp set and because he loves dinosaurs.

I stamped the images on Neenah Solar White cardstock with Memento Tuxedo black ink, colored them with ShinHan Touch Twin markers and fussy cut everything. For the pop-up box, I used Lawn Fawn  pattern paper from “Perfectly plaid chill” collection and for the flaps I used light green cardstock. I made the hills using Lawn Fawn “Stitched hillside borders” dies on kraft cardstock and I used the same kraft cardstock to make the background mountains using Lawn Fawn “Stitched mountain borders” dies.

To decorate the flaps I did some die cut inlay. I used Neat and Tangled “Celebrate”die on some black cardstock and on some Simon Says Stamp “Glimmery Sunshine” cardstock. I love this cardstock, it’s sooo pretty! It has a shiny look and a wonderful texture. I glued these die cut pieces on the central flap. For the side flaps I used Lawn Fawn “Stitched circle stackables” dies and Neat and Tangled “Journaling numbers” dies.

Zorionak means “happy birthday” in basque.

Finally, I used Neat and Tangled “Journaling alphas” dies to spell  the sentiment “Zorionak Telmo!” on the outside of the pop-up box.

I’ve had a great time making these cards, I think it’s kinda addictive!! I hope you like them!

I’m entering these projects into Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Something New, because the Avery Elle stamp set was new, and because is the first time I make a pop-up box, so they are new to me.

and into Simon Says Stamp Work it Wednesday December 2017: New

Have a nice day! And thanks for stopping by!
