Hi!!

Today I’m sharing a card featuring some Purple Onion Designs stamps. I loooove these super cute critters designed by Stacey Yacula. This card is inspired by this one by Nichol Spohr. As soon as I saw her wonderful background I knew I had to buy the Tim Holtz Layering Woodland Stencil.

First, I stamped all the images on Bristol paper using Memento Tuxedo black ink. Next, I masked all the images and the lower part of the panel and blended Tumbled Glass and Dried Marigold Distress Inks. Then, I used the stencil to make the background, blending Evergreen Bough and Twisted Citron on top. To finish the background, I removed the mask on the lower part of the panel and masked the upper part to blend Twisted Citron for the grass.

Next, I removed the masks and color them using Faber-Castell Polychromos color pencils. As I suspected, Bristol paper is not the best choice for color pencils, but I managed to add some shading to the images and I’m quite happy with the result. For the sentiment, I combined two Lawn Fawn stamp sets: “Year five” and “Gingham backdrops” and stamped it using Versafine Onyx black ink.

As a final touch, I added some detail to the scarves with a white gel pen and some Wink of Stella to all the accessories.

I definitely have to practice more on making these kind of backgrounds, because I think this stencil is great for making scenes for all seasons.

I hope you like this card. Thanks for stopping by!

Have a wonderful day!
