Mermaid card

Hi!

Today I’m sharing with you a card using a stamped image I colored during the Daily Marker Color Challenge. I used a super cute mermaid from Stampendous I bought in South Korea some time ago because I thought the image was perfect for practicing hair coloring. Definitely, I need a lot of practice with that!!

The image was stamped on Canson Mi-Teintes white paper with Versafine Onyx black ink and colored with Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils. You can see a picture of the coloring (without the blue background) on my Instagram. I didn’t want to fussy cut the image because it had some detail I thought I was going to lose, so I decided to use my Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers to color the background. But the paper I used to color with pencils is very textured and I needed several layers of color to have a good coverage… and I ended losing some of the details of the stamped image.

I used one of the Mama Elephant “Peek-a-Frame” dies to die cut the panel and adhered it to a white card base. I stamped the sentiment from Mama Elephant “Make a wish” stamp set with Versamark ink and heat embossed it with white embossing powder. I added some interest using Nuvo Crystal Drops: on white to make some kind of pearls and on black on the eyes. Last, I added some Wink of Stella to the crown and the sea shells and Glossy Accents to make bubbles.

Although I was very happy with the coloring, I feel I didn’t make a great work finishing the card. Besides, I promise you the pictures don’t do it justice.

I hope to post a card I’m more happy with very soon!!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!
